I'm starting this blog during the beginning of the last week at church before my Sabbatical. This week includes sorting things out, meetings, preparation for a wedding, and the Sunday service. I am also looking forward to my trip to Korea in two weeks time.
Here are some of things I've been doing to prepare for the trip.
1. Practicing the art of using chopsticks...
2. Learning a couple of words.... (edited)
1. Hello = Anyounghaseyo (polite)
2. Thank you very much = kamsahamnida
3. Goodbye = anyounghigaseyo (polite)
4. Pastor = Mokanim
3. Currency....
Currently there are 1713.79 Korean won to the pound.
Already so much to take in, but very much looking forward to this new cultural experience.
Korean Word: may be an intermediate course???
ReplyDelete1. Hello (meeting or greeting someone (e.g. How are you? Good morning, etc.)): Anyoug or An-young (friendly speaking), Anyounghaseyo or An-young-ha-se-yo (polite speaking)
1.1. Hello (beginning of a phone conversation or call somebody or someone): Yoboseyo or Yo-bo-se-yo (the same as a friendly and polite speaking)
3. Good bye: Anyoung or An-young (friendly), Anyounghigaseyo or An-young-hi-ga-se-yo (polite speaking)
4. Pastor: Moksa or Mok-sa but always Mosanim or Mok-sa-nim (suffix: -nim is a polite meaning, like Sir)
Thank you BK; this is really helpful. I confess I haven't been on any language course, just words I've picked up. I shall amend them.
